YOU ARE INVITED: Summer Book Group: Me and White Supremacy: Combat Racism, Change the World and Become a Good Ancestor by Layla F. Saad
The new Racial Justice Group at CCA invites you to take part in a summer series of reflection and exploration as we journal through the book Me and White Supremacy: Combat Racism, Change the World and Become a Good Ancestor by Layla F. Saad. This group will meet for 12 Sundays after church starting June 6th. Come to church, visit at coffee hour, and then head to the back yard for discussion!
Through definitions, stories, and historical and cultural context, Me and White Supremacy guides readers through a process of exploring white privilege and white dominance in our lives and community, so we can all leave the world better than we found it. Unlike many of our adult education offerings, this series is not primarily an academic pursuit—this book will ask you to explore your inner world, and in doing so, you will be both challenged and transformed.
You do not need to attend every session to participate, but you do need to complete the reading and journaling every week, even if you are away! This way, the group can learn and grow together.
You can purchase the book on amazon, at your local book store, or at any one of these black owned bookstores.
