We are currently using ZOOM for church school lessons, starting at 9:00 a.m on Sunday mornings. An email was sent to the parent, grandparents, or guardian of each registered church school child. There are documents for family and children to support the lesson, also emailed. Please contact our Church School Coordinator for more information.
Today’s lesson is “Mary and Martha” (Luke 10:38-42). Mary has chosen to be present when Jesus visits, Martha continues to clean. Mary is with the distraction, Jesus, the visitor. Relating the story to our children is not difficult today. How and why should we relate the story? That which appears to be a distraction is the moment when we are called to be more like Jesus. Jesus is present always: near, in our home, and far, in our community and beyond. Social distancing presents moments to practice what was read in the story. The distractions are meaningful. Take time to call a friend you have not seen. Take a moment or two to help a sibling struggling with a chore. Take time from your online games to bring food to the local food pantry. When do we allow Jesus to be present?
An Invitation: The opportunity presents itself for children to share their artwork, colored in pages as well, through church school. Children created bulletin covers, so it is now being extended to a gallery. Send your child’s/ children’s creative pieces to Marilyn Gibson for posting. Questions can be sent to the same address.
