CONFIRMATION IS BACK!
Confirmation is a very special year for 8th and 9th graders at the Congregational Church of Amherst. At CCA. This year our confirmation class is re-gathering after a year off due to Covid-19. We will spend the year striving to be as safe as we can while meeting in-person.
Our first meeting and parent information session is September 16th from 5-6:30pm.
We provide a comprehensive, fun, and meaningful Confirmation program for our youths in 8th grade and above who are interested in exploring their ‘confirmation’ to our beliefs.
Pastors Maureen and Kate, advisor Vicky Leknes, and adult mentors guide the confirmation process and assist the confirmands throughout their confirmation journey.
As young adults, you will explore both the Christian faith and our own United Church of Christ, our church’s history, what you and your peers do and don’t believe, and why. We usually meet twice a month and we have a variety of learning and interactive small group activities to meet everyone’s needs, in addition to our annual retreat. As a confirmand, you will choose a mentor in the church to walk with you on this journey. The confirmation program is a faith journey – if you choose to be confirmed, it means you, as your own person, have chosen to confirm your Christian faith and become a member of our congregation. Those confirmands who complete the class and choose to join the church will be received into membership in the spring during morning worship service, usually on Pentecost Sunday.
