The 2023 Confirmation class carried out a mission project to help the residents of a women’s shelter located at Tirrell House in Manchester. They shopped for requested clothing, using funds donated by our Woman's Association, and prepared a meal for the residents. Confirmand Maya gave her thoughts on the project:
“Helping the women in the Tirrell House was a greatly fulfilling experience. It feels good to know we’ve made a difference in someone else’s life, even if it’s a small one. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact in my community.”
Confirmation is a very special year for 8th and 9th graders at the Congregational Church of Amherst. At CCA. We provide a comprehensive, fun, and meaningful Confirmation program for our youths in 8th grade and above who are interested in exploring their ‘confirmation’ to our beliefs.
As young adults, you will explore both the Christian faith and our own United Church of Christ, our church’s history, what you and your peers do and don’t believe, and why. We usually meet twice a month and we have a variety of learning and interactive small group activities to meet everyone’s needs, in addition to our annual retreat. As a confirmand, you will choose a mentor in the church to walk with you on this journey. The confirmation program is a faith journey – if you choose to be confirmed, it means you, as your own person, have chosen to confirm your Christian faith and become a member of our congregation. Those confirmands who complete the class and choose to join the church will be received into membership in the spring during morning worship service, usually on Pentecost Sunday.
