Sacraments
Sacraments are the outward and visible
ritual acts by which we acknowledge the
presence
of God's grace and spirit in our worship
and in our lives.
Our church celebrates the two sacraments instituted
by Jesus: Baptism and Holy Communion.
Orders of Worship (Rites)
Like other churches who maintain membership
in the United Church of Christ, CCA recognizes several
orders of worship, or
rites. These formalize (or
"ritualize") our acknowledgment of the presence of God's
saving grace in critical events or moments of life-shaping
decision, commitment, and passage. Unlike the
sacraments, the rites take shape in less formal orders of
worship that may vary in form or structure from time to time
or among churches.
