Children
Nursery -- infant to two years.
The nursery opens Sunday at 9:30 am for children of
worshippers. It provides care for children until about 11:15--at
the conclusion of the worship service.
Church School -- two years through seventh
grade
Two year olds are welcome in their classroom for general
play and supervision from the start of the worship service. Older
children enjoy the first part of the worship service with their
families. At children’s time they are invited to the front of the
sanctuary to participate in a short spiritual conversation with
the pastor or other adults. After children’s time, church school
students move to their grade-level classrooms for activities under
the guidance of volunteer teachers.
Children in the classes for three year olds and for
four year olds as well as kindergarteners are guided in their classroom
activities by the Worship Center curriculum. Teachers
engage them in storytelling and ritual so that they experience Bible
in an age-appropriate manner and begin to build their worship skills.
Grades 1 through 7explore faith through the Seasons
of the Spirit curriculum. Seasons of the Spirit is lectionary-based,
allowing families on most Sundays to share in the same Bible readings
whether they are in church school or the worship service. Seasons
of the Spirit strives to provide a foundation by which children
can put their growing faith into practice.
Church school activities continue until approximately
11:15 am when parents can meet their children in their classrooms
(at all times for second grade and younger) or in the community room
during fellowship time after the students have been released.
