Can we have our child baptized at CCA?

Infant baptism is offered to those children whose parent(s) and sponsor(s) promise to assume certain responsibilities for the Christian nurture of the baptized. One of the parents or sponsors should be a member in good standing of a Christian church. Baptism takes place in the presence of the community of faith gathered for public worship.

A Pastor meets with prospective parents one time before the service to familiarize the family with the nature of the sacrament and the service.  More

Church school on Sundays welcomes children in grades 1 through 7. Younger children (from 2 years) are welcome in the nursery, which opens a half hour before the regular service on most Sundays.

Middle school and high school young adults can find activities, learning, fellowship, and challenge in their groups, with a full range of things to do through the season.

I'd like to have my wedding at CCA. Where do I start?

Persons interested in celebrating their wedding in the Congregational Church of Amherst may do so in consultation with the church staff. Separate fees pertain to non-members.

CCA. offers the outstanding service of a wedding coordinator who assists couples in their wedding plans at the church. We request a minimum of two meetings with a Pastor prior to the wedding rehearsal.   More

Can I participate in Holy Communion? Can my children?

CCA. celebrates Holy Communion on the first Sunday of the month throughout the year. All believers are invited to participate whatever their denominational backgrounds. Children are welcome and invited to partake at the discretion of their parents.

Usually Holy Communion is served to the congregation by the Pastors and Deacons in the form of individual cubes of bread and individual cups, a practice introduced in the 19th century. We use grape juice in our services.  More
